With parking in the village piazza, the house is reached from the charming, cobbled little lane which runs through the tiny village. With stunning, open views to the mountains, this lovely house is in a little hamlet just above Comano in the Lunigiana hills. A footpath from the village leads through the woods to Comano itself and all around are wonderful walking trails in the hills. Comano is a town at the head of the Taverone valley with a backdrop of the breathtaking Apennine Mountains. The town, which is surrounded by the farmland, hosts an annual horse festival in the summer and offers a good selection of facilities, with restaurants, shops and coffee bars and a friendly local community.
Lunigiana is a magical part of Tuscany. The hills which encircle Lunigiana create an intimate and relaxed atmosphere whilst the blend of the mountains and sea are extremely inviting to those who enjoy the outdoors. The rolling landscape is liberally sprinkled with castles of Medici or Malaspina vintage and for lovers of the coast the sea is only half-an-hour away. The golden sandy beaches around Lerici and the pebble coves of the Cinque Terre (UNESCO World Heritage site) are ideal for swimming and sailing. The area is criss-crossed with marked footpaths for walks to the hills and mountains. There are great days out to be had in all of Tuscany, including Florence, Pisa, Lucca and the stunning coastline and the airports of Pisa, Parma and Genova are each just over an hour away.
